CSK nostalgia- 1.

I had to wake up at 4 am today. Okay, not *wake up* in the traditional sense. I wasn’t able to sleep beyond 4 am and decided to take a walk around the neighborhood. A short walk which I know would be accompanied by few stray dogs, a sincere Neel Metal Fanalca worker, the Aavin milk van and a speeding car/bike from nowhere that whizzes past me. This morning was no different. In fact, I witnessed a race kind of between a Z4 and a Duke bike. I couldn’t but not think about something quite similar that happened a month back in Chennai.

Off Park Sheraton and Mount Road, to be specific.

When the entire city of Chennai was sleeping, three individuals decided to blaze the road and spend some time getting their adrenaline pumped up. The Buddh circuit just shifted its locale to Chennai and the roads got a feel of the best bike and best car in town when Dhoni, Jadeja and Raina decided to get hot on wheels.

During the day time the team is confined to the recreation center, and during the night, few tend to get adventurous.

It was the 23rd of April, if I remember right. The excitement of flying for the first time with MS Dhoni had resulted in my sleep going for a toss. At around 4 am, I found myself strolling around the hotel lobby. My stroll came to an abrupt halt. A jolt of reality struck me. I double checked the time again. Three Chennai Super Kings, clad in casual jerseys and shorts, were loitering around. I waited and watched.
It is a widely known fact that Mahendra Singh Dhoni is a big fan of motorcycles, owning more than half a dozen bikes. He disappeared for a while and as I guessed, the captain was ready to don his second favorite avatar.

A loud thunderous Confederate X132 Hellcat boomed out of nowhere. MS Dhoni would have sent Valentino Rossi a run for his money, at least for the racing posture. He swirled his helmet like he did after hitting that six to immortality at Wankhade in 2011 WC finals, and it covered the face.

Suresh Raina got his new Porsche Boxter, a mean yellow machine to Chennai. I have seen more pictures of the car than the players all over the internet. People come and just pose with it. (Bound to happen because, apparently he is *Rainaa dorlinggg!* for many).
That car is a beauty and one can have a look at it outside the hotel entrance. Morkel, Jadeja have all experienced a drive in it. But this day, it was Jadeja giving company to Raina. They got into the car that possesses a bleeding edge character toward design and a two-seat, naturally aspirated roadster. Raina showed me a video of the car he test-drove back in Delhi on his mobile when I asked him about how good the car was. Within a few minutes, the entire hotel staffs present were outside to witness the speedy spectacle.

The hotel staffs clarified few doubts regarding the routes and they were off in a flash. They took a ride on Mount Road (longest inner city main road) and to many others. There exists something with MSD and machines. On the field, it’s the helicopter and off the field, it’s the bike. It should have been an amazing experience to sit as a pillion or sit inside the Boxter…
